Prancing through the produce, busking among the baked goods — not the usual kind of way you'd expect to present a song. However, Liz Cooper and the Stampede already did a pretty great music video for "Mountain Man," the Appalachian-leaning cut about looking forward to a long-term relationship that's on their debut LP Window Flowers. So, Cooper got together with Daniel Yocum, the filmmaker who directed the aforementioned video, to put together a little impromptu acoustic session.
With Cooper decked out in one of her signature jumpsuits and a wig and sporting a Martin guitar, the pair headed down to what appears to be the Aldi on Eastland Ave. As you can see in the above clip, Yocum follows Cooper as she meanders about, fingerpicking and singing the gentle song. The pair almost make it through their adventure uninterrupted, but a couple of employees come up to inform them that the filming is against store policy.
Naturally, Cooper makes a gracious exit — give it a spin above to see exactly how it turns out. You can find Window Flowers at your favorite record store or via Cooper's website. Cooper and the Stampede are on the road this fall with Phosphorescent, but they'll be back in town on the West Side at Southern Grist Brewing on New Year's Eve. They'll open for The Weeks alongside The Foxies. Tickets start at $30 and are available via Eventbrite right now.Â
