Last week, word came through that songsmith extraordinaire Tristen's new LP Sneaker Waves — a follow-up to 2013's stellar CAVES — will be out July 7 and celebrated with a special release gig called "Tristen the Night Away" on July 13. Now, we've got our first taste of the new album, thanks to the psych-inspired video for the first single "Glass Jar."

The tune, which features a guest vocal from Jenny Lewis, takes a little step back in its production, trading the ’80s synthpop production techniques of CAVES for a sonic nod to '60s psychedelic pop acts like The Mamas and the Papas or The Byrds. The video, directed by Casey Pierce, follows suit.

Adorned in vintage costumes and strumming her Epiphone Casino, Tristen (alongside Ryan Donoho and Reilly "G.G." Gallagher) grooves inside kaleidoscopic shots that suggest the jar of the song's title, which stands as a metaphor for a manipulative companion. At a few points, beams of light shoot from Tristen's eyes, and she begins to multiply — trippy stuff.
