Remember creamy British soul singer Sam Smith? Of course you do. His 2014 single "Stay With Me" was damn near inescapable for a time there, as were his soft features and fluffy pompadour.
Well he's back! And he's got a new look and a new record to promote. Smith — who's looking a bit like a buttery mash-up of Chris Martin and Jude Law these days — will release his sophomore record The Thrill of It All on Nov. 3, and you can check out the video for lead single "Too Good at Goodbyes" above. The kid can croon, you've gotta give him that.Â
Anyhow, the monster of sadboy blue-eyed-soul will bring his tour to the States next summer, and he's just announced a string of dates that includes Nashville. Smith will play our friendly neighborhood Enormodome, Bridgestone Arena, on July 7, and tickets go on sale at his site on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m. The 18,000-or-so-capacity Bridgestone is a mighty big upgrade from the 2,400-seat Ryman Auditorium, where he played last time he came to town. Can he fill the arena? We'll see. The real question is, will he once again feign post-show sleepiness to go do karaoke at Lonnie's?Â
