SXSW Saturday: Natalie Prass, Joshua Hedley Thrill as Threats Rattle Austin

Salt-N-Pepa at SXSW 2018

After more than a year without in-person celebrations on a grand scale, it feels especially great to see big festivals coming back strong. For the 32nd running of the Nashville Pride Festival, organizers still had some adjusting to do — they moved the events out of Pride Month in June and into September, and changed the venue to Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, down the hill from their regular home in Public Square Park. Today, the lineup for the entertainment stages has been released, and it’s fantastic.

At the top of the bill are legendary rappers Salt-N-Pepa. The multiplatinum-selling, Grammy-winning duo behind “None of Your Business,” “What a Man,” “Shoop,” “Push It” and many other jams are all you really need for an epic helping of ecstatic revelry. But they’re joined by a wide array of LBGTQ artists and allies set to perform on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 18 and 19.

Pop champion Kim Petras, masked country crooner Orville Peck, alt-pop outfit The Aces, polymathic rapper Tommy Genesis and country up-and-comer Brooke Eden are among the national and international touring acts joining in. There are heaps of locals, too, including pop ’n’ rock megaband Tayls, country-roots-popster Mercy Bell, and electronic pop singer-songwriters Sinclair, Andreas Moss and Freak Daddy.

Tickets go on sale Friday, July 16, at noon, via Nashville Pride’s website; options range from $10 single-day general-admission tickets to a $300 Friends of Pride weekend pass. Below, check out the full lineup of musicians and drag performers confirmed so far. More are to come — keep an eye on the website for full ticketing information and more performer announcements.
