Loretta Lynn at the Ryman, 4/14/2017
Just a few weeks after cornerstone country music writer and performer Loretta Lynn celebrated her 85th birthday with a pair of sold-out shows at the Ryman, the Coal Miner's Daughter has had a health scare. A note posted to Lynn's website Friday evening says that she suffered a stroke at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., on Thursday night and was admitted to an undisclosed hospital in Nashville.
As of Friday, Lynn's site reports that she is responsive and expected to make a full recovery. However, doctors have advised her to postpone upcoming performances while she recuperates. It's not clear at press time how much of her spring and summer tour (which includes August dates at the Ryman to celebrate a new album) will be postponed and rescheduled, but updates will be announced at lorettalynn.com.
Update, May 15: A tweet from Lynn's official account (and an accompanying post on her official website) says that her condition has improved and she's moved to rehabilitation.
