Last week, widely loved Nashville rock band Gloom Girl MFG was making final preparations for some out-of-town shows. When bassist Stephen Sobolewski stopped to fuel up at an Antioch gas station, an unknown assailant attacked him with a knife. Per an update shared via the band’s Instagram a few days later, he’d been admitted the hospital with multiple wounds and two fractures in his skull. The investigation into the attack is ongoing.
Thankfully, Sobolewski’s recovery continues. But the road ahead is a long one. His sister Kate Sobolewski launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with the medical bills and other expenses while he has to take time off to heal. As of this posting, the campaign has nearly reached its $30,000 goal, but in an industry not known for having generous benefits (or any, for that matter), everything helps.
