Don't Miss The Secret Sisters' Toy Drive This Sunday

The Secret Sisters at the Ryman, 10/9/2017

A little earlier, we mentioned one good cause you can support this week while doing something nice for yourself, via the Infinity Cat rarities auction that benefits the Southern Girls Rock Camp. Here's another way you can do some good and have a great time: The Secret Sisters' annual toy drive for Youth Encouragement Services' Christmas Store, which allows local low-income families pick out gifts for their kids.

You might have heard cuts from the Sisters' latest LP You Don't Own Me Anymore on the radio, or perhaps if you were at the Mother Church in October for the first night of Jason Isbell's run. YDOMA, co-produced by Brandi Carlile, was just nominated for Best Folk Album at the 60th Grammy Awards. The Sisters typically play this event with The Nobility, (née Jetpack U.K., née Jetpack), purveyors of impressive packages who recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of their debut full-length The Mezzanine. Unfortunately, due to a scheduling conflict, the full group couldn't play, so frontman Sean Williams tells the Cream in an email that a Nobility "sub-brand" called Harrison Ford's Earring (named after a real-life accessory) will fill in. That lineup features Williams on guitar and vocals, Stephen Jerkins on keys and vocals, and Sara Beth Go on glockenspiel and vocals.

The show goes down at 7 p.m. this Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Lindsley Avenue Church of Christ (3 Lindsley Ave.). Admission is one new, unwrapped toy. To get you in the spirit, peep The Nobility's convivial rendition of "Good King Wenceslas" here and Williams and Go's performance of "We Need a Little Christmas" (from A Muppet Family Christmas, if you didn't know — you heathen) below.

We Sing Songs in my Dining Room. Feel full and inspired. It's food for your ears.

Happy Holidays!
