Cream Premiere: Watch Krovi's Melancholy 'Struggle in Pleasure' [Fresh Vid]

Krovi - Struggle in Pleasure

James Robert Farmer, aka Krovi, has been making cool contributions to Nashville's pop landscape for a couple of years, during which he's collaborated with Ann Catherine Carter in Λ°C and dropped a string of solo singles that includes the great Jamie Lidell co-production "We Need This." Krovi's debut full-length record WITNESS is out today via the indie label Sleep On Dreams, and we're very pleased to premiere the video for the song "Struggle in Pleasure."

Lyrically, Farmer looks at how a relationship is a constant work in progress — at one point, I thought the chorus of voices chanting "forever and ever" in the hook had morphed into "forever endeavor." Sonically, you'll hear strains of influence from favorites like Depeche Mode and Peter Gabriel. The black-and-white video, produced by Freestate Collective, features Farmer and a companion navigating some empty patches of the city landscape, which feel colder and emptier in context with the narrative.

You can spin the album on Apple Music or download from iTunes, or order a copy of the cassette from Sleep On Dreams' online store. It will soon be streaming on Spotify, and cassettes will also be available at Grimey's and The Groove by early next week.
