Cream Premiere: Meth Dad Reaches Out on SWATE DRAMES [Fresh Tracks]

Meth Dad at Wonderland in Austin, Texas, during SXSW 2016

If you took a dive into Music City's DIY music scene in the early teens (or Murfreesboro's in the few years before that), there's a good chance you'd find yourself in the presence of concert promoter (remember Tour de Fun?) and musician Tyler Walker and his project Meth Dad. Sometimes it's Walker by himself with a laptop, often it's him with Soft Bodies' Taylor Jensen and on rare occasions, it's been Walker plus a massive posi-vibin' ensemble of singers and dancers. The dude knows how to engage a roomful of people, and how to move them with scintillating, upbeat dance party anthems.

On his new record SWATE DRAMES, his first full-length since 2013's Posi Vibes, Walker is as determined as ever to get you singing and dancing along. But he's not ignoring the immense and sometimes overwhelming changes going on in our world, turning his attention to what we can do to get through the sociopolitical mess we've found ourselves in. “All and all, it’s who we are / And after all, it’s one and one for all / And in the end, it’s what we’ve done / Not who believed,” he and Jensen sing through the pulsing ether on “So Real.”

Today, we're very pleased to premiere the album, which also features guest appearances from fellow dance party experts Persona La Ave, Terror Pigeon and Cherub. Give it a spin via the Bandcamp embed below, click through to buy a copy, and join Meth Dad, Basic Printer and lots of pals (running the gamut from rapper Young Breh to punk trio Peachy) for a dual release party at Mercy Lounge and The High Watt on Friday, Aug. 31. Watch the Facebook event page for updates, and pick up an advance ticket for $8 right here.
