Brendan Benson playing with The Raconteurs at Third Man Records' 10th Anniversary Party, 2019
On April 24, Brendan Benson is set to release Dear Life, his first solo LP since 2013. It's also his first release since Help Us Stranger, the hiatus-breaking 2019 LP by The Raconteurs, the rock group he co-fronts with Jack White.
Back in February, we got our first taste of what Benson's been working on via the music video for "Good to Be Alive."Â That tune is about Benson getting a fresh outlook and feeling good in his own skin, and the latest track to be released from the record follows that trend. In "Richest Man," he gets earnest about what having a family means to him, as he sings in the chorus: "I got two beautiful babies / One hell of a woman as my wife / Got twice the love and half the money / Must be the richest man alive."
Give the new song, a joyous slice of power pop, a spin below. Click through the embed to preorder the LP via Bandcamp, or head over to Third Man Records' online store. As we continue to forego public events in order to halt the spread of COVID-19, Benson won't be playing out anytime soon, but he is performing from home at 4:20 p.m. daily, in a livestream series on Instagram that he's calling Boy In a Bubble.
