Bonnaroo has offered a comedy lineup since 2004 (a thorough oral history of which you can read over at The A.V. Club), and the festival has an interesting lineup of talent on deck for 2018. Performers include standup ace and rising comedy writer Aparna Nancherla (if you've missed her appearances in Nashville over the past couple years, you can catch her on Pete Holmes' Crashing or on the latest season of the Netflix series The Standups); former SNL star Sasheer Zamata; Workaholics co-creator/co-star (and notable singer) Adam DeVine; and performance-art polymath and delightful weirdo Reggie Watts, plus about a dozen more.
Despite the array of comedians who've graced the ’Roo in the past, from Conan O'Brien to Bridget Everett, there's still a decent chance that you've missed out on comedy at the festival entirely. This year, festival organizers are hoping to change that by spreading folks around a bit. A ’Roo news item indicates that DeVine will be doing a run of short sets between bands, Watts will play his own musical set on a regular tent stage, and comedians will appear in several places around the festival grounds, including Snake and Jake's Christmas Club Barn and a stage out in the general-admission campgrounds (perhaps a resurrection of the purgatorial Cafe Where).
