Layl'a Rul has this "Rock Star Bar" thing on Thursday nights you may have heard about, since it's graced certain local press pages consistently for months now. Local rock stars (oxymoron?) "DJ" on Thursday nights in a breezy, Moroccan-themed bar with swaying fans and pink lights. Do people want to hear what musicians listen to? What if it's, say, ZZ Top's "Legs"? And what if, instead of actually DJing, they just hand over their iPod with a selected playlist and the bar plays it while they drink in a roped-off section with leather couches, and hangers-on gaze longingly at them and run up their bar tab?
