Some news to improve your Monday: This morning, the ol' inbox had a couple of great last-minute show announcements for us from Fond Object. First up, anti-folk heroine Kimya Dawson (aka one half of The Moldy Peaches and one half of The Uncluded) spent this spring crossing the country on a book-as-you-go tour, which brings her to Nashville tonight
for the first time. Based on the
timeor
twowe've caught her at SXSW, you can expect a friendly, laid-back hang in the store's back yard, with Joe Scala of Promised Land Sound and Ben Spinks of Supermelt opening. Kickoff time is 7 p.m., and the cover is $5. Keep up with the show on Facebook
right here.
If you can't make it out, the fine folks at the Object have another backyard hangout for you this week: James Jackson Toth-approved Louisville rockers State Champion roll in on Wednesday, with Daddy Issues and Hans Condor supporting. That one also gets going at 7 p.m., and $5 is the suggested donation.
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Performed at TEDxBoulder '14
Kimya Dawson is a Grammy winning, platinum selling singer songwriter most widely known for her work on the JUNO soundtrack and her former band, The Moldy Peaches. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
