A whole lot of noteworthy bits and pieces are poppin' off around the Web this week, so let's have a quick look at the more interesting local-centric morsels, shall we?

* Internationally famed model, Third Man Records recording artist and former Jack White spouse Karen Elson talked with fashion site Refinery 29, and the topic of Nashville high fashion — or lack thereof, perhaps? — came up. "It's helped me personalize my style more," says Elson of living in Nashville. "They're not obsessed with the current high fashion or what's in season. There, it's more about creating an identity." Burn! Or ... compliment? I'll leave that one to the fashion analysts to decide. Elson also talked about her life as a performer and how that relates to her style.

* Remember the horrific stage collapse that killed five people at the Indiana State Fair about a month ago? The Associated Press reports (via The Tennessean) that country outfit Sugarland — who were slated to perform at the fair — has been named in a stage-collapse lawsuit notice. Reads the report, "The tort claim by the family of 22-year-old Jennifer Haskell names the country band Sugarland and its members, agents and employees among 15 potential defendants."

* Madi Diaz's Far From Things That We Know EP will be out next week via tinyOGRE — and keep an eye out for a review in this week's forthcoming dead-tree version of the Scene. I already showed you the video for Diaz's single, "Let's Go," so you oughtta be familiar with that poppy little chestnut. Well, Rolling Stone seems to think pretty highly of Diaz, as they're currently offering "Let's Go" as an exclusive download. "The melody felt like it had been wafting around in the room," Diaz told RS in regard to writing the song, "and all we had to do was reach up and catch it."
