The 80-year-old Nashville restaurant Jimmy Kelly's will be closed for the next two weeks after it was hit by an electrical fire, according to owner Mike Kelly.
A small electrical fire broke out in the restaurant's dish room, Kelly says. "The fire department arrived in about three minutes," he adds. "They're like rock stars."
The restaurant was already closed temporarily for the July Fourth holiday week, and Kelly chose to extend that closure to do more renovations. "We decided it was a good time to go ahead and do more stuff," he says. The renovations will include mechanical work in the restaurant's downstairs level.
Meanwhile, the popular Hillsboro Village spot Sam's Sports Bar and Grill is closed for a few weeks after it was also struck by fire last week. A fire June 30 led to water damage, a representative of Sam's said last week. That closure is estimated to last four to eight weeks.
