It's a big day for native Alabaman and current Nashvillian Jason Isbell. Today marks the release of his brand-new long-player Southeastern, and he'll celebrate with an

this evening (6 p.m.) at Grimey's. Southeastern, it seems, is a deeply personal album that delves heavily into Isbell's newfound sobriety —

NPR recently filed a fine little preview

, as a matter of fact, for which All Things Considered's Melissa Block spoke with Isbell and his

-a-talented-songwriter-and-performer bride, Amanda Shires. "I had it timed where, by the very end of the show, I'd done just about all I could do standing up," Isbell tells NPR in regard to his hard-drinking days in Drive-By Truckers. "I knew I needed two or three before I went on, and then during the show, we'd just pass a bottle around between the band." Tough stuff to open up about.

But hey, this is good news for J-Bell fans: Isbell will play the Ryman on Aug. 17 with support from local songstress and Cream fave Caitlin Rose. Tickets — which will run you just about $30 — go on sale Friday, June 21, at 10 a.m. via this link. Grimey's says, however, that a limited number of tickets will be available today at the shop. Today's performance will be in the original store (i.e., not Grimey's Too), and you probably ought to show up early if you want to get a decent spot and/or land some of those tickets.
