Jake and Jamin: flyin' high in '09 and still on their way up
Last year, Infinity Cat nabbed Best Local Label in our
Best of Nashville writers' picks. Some guy wrote this:
There's a good case to be made for Third Man Records in this category, but since TMR has Jack White's immense celebrity to help propel its catalog of peach-scented Karen Elson LPs, Conan O'Brien singles and Triple Decker Records, we're giving this one to the scrappy I-Cat (by a moustache hair, in a photo finish), for building a cult following around its flagship band (and label execs), JEFF the Brotherhood, bringing Nashville's riff-punk underground to a national audience and, in the process, incubating some of our best raw local talent — like Daniel Pujol, for instance, who just released a Jack White-produced 7-inch on Third Man.
Well, now it's another year — and
voting for the 2011 BONis on — JTB have

even awesomerand Billboard has put Infinity Cat at No. 10 in their
"50 Best Indie Labels in America" listicle, alongside names like Matador, K, De Stijl, DFA, In the Red and Goner. Gillian Welch and David Rawlings' Acony Records also made the list, checking in at No. 15 between Fool's Gold and Asthmatic Kitty.
Infinity Cat, wanting more than ever for you to come like it now with them, are celebrating the happy news by offering a vinyl six-pack special — JEFF's Heavy Days, Natural Child's 1971, Peach Kelli Pop's Peach Kelli Pop, Hell Beach's Welcome to Hell Beach, Heavy Cream's Danny and Be Your Own Pet's Not Rocket Science — for $49, a discount of $14. Pretty sweet deal all the way around.
