You know what’s really trending in culture profiles at international publications right now? Nashville. Following in the footsteps of Rolling Stone, The Observer, Nylon and, most recently, The New York Times, GQ magazine (
previously noted fans of The 5 Spot's Keep on Movin' dance party) is showing Nashville some big, big love with an eight-page spread covering the city’s standing in music (a little bit), fashion (mainly), sports, small businesses and artisan cuisine. Titled “Nowville,” the general gist of the piece is to hip its readers to a Nashville that’s a “reborn Southern scene.”
“Nashville, Tennessee, used to be just a city of 10-gallon hats and the Grand Ole Opry,” the piece opens. “Now it’s the most electric spot in the South, thanks to a cast of transplanted designers, architects, chefs, and rock ’n’ rollers.”
