It's a concept that seems as old as vinyl records themselves: Get some turntables, play some records at top volume, sell beer and wait for people to show up. While, for example, DJ nights in '70s England are often held accountable for both spreading the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and reggae's influence on first wave punk and second wave ska, it's a tad quixotic to imagine them having any such impact now. In fact, it's safe to say the only thing DJ nights in Nashville have inspired are more DJ nights. Not only are there a shit ton of bars sporting turntables, CD decks and iPods for entertainment these days, there's some especially notable ones coming up.
