As long as there have been jealous lovers, "what goes around comes around" have been words to live by. In the noir noveau video for "Someday Somebody," premiered today over at
American Songwriter, local songstress Heidi Feek gives us a smoldering reminder of that advice, as well as a taste of her upcoming debut full-length, The Only. The track showcases Feek's deep and smoky voice in a kind of high-fidelity retro setting that you'll dig if you liked Robert Plant and Alison Krauss' Raising Sand. The beautifully shot clip, complete with spooky living-photograph effects, is a perfect complement. Put together by the crew at
LilDragon, the video stars Feek and pals Caitlin Rose and Sam Farkas (one of Space Capone's guitar-slingers) at the corners of a dangerous love triangle. We won't spoil the end, but you can bet it won't be happy.
Speaking of The Only, after more than a year in the works, it's slated for release on Oct. 8 (there's a contemporary sheen to some of the other tracks, but the writing and playing underneath feels anything but focus-grouped). Feek and her parents (country duo Joey + Rory) will play a double-header bill at The Belcourt to celebrate on Oct 2. Tickets to the show are $10 and include copies of both The Only and Joey + Rory's forthcoming LP, Made to Last.
