Seems like we can't go a full week without catching some bummer news around these parts. As you may know, legendary singer-songwriter, guitarist and founding Television member Richard Lloyd and his band — which,
strangely enough, features Danny Tamberelli of Pete and Pete fame — were
slated to play The High Watt on Monday, June 18. As pointed out by a commenter on
Gold's recent post about the slew of great upcoming shows, however,
a recent poston
Lloyd's official Facebook fan pageindicates that Lloyd has canceled all of his June dates due to health problems. From the post:
I regret to inform you that the Richard Lloyd and Grand Strand June 2012 Tour has been cancelled. Richard's health has declined over the past week and on June 11 he was admitted to the hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Again I am sorry for the cancellation. Team Lloyd
A
second postasks that fans purchase official merch in order to help Lloyd & Co. recoup lost tour funds. We've put in an email to Lloyd's camp, and will update this post if we receive any updates on Lloyd's health. The High Watt folks say, "Refunds will be available through the point of purchase." Get well soon, Mr. Lloyd. Rock 'n' roll totally owes you one for the two-guitar attack you pioneered with Tom Verlaine. And hell, I think "Misty Eyes" from 1979's Alchemy (hear it after the jump) was pretty solid, too.
