Five Nashville Chefs Nominated for <i>Food & Wine</i>'s 'People's Best New Chef'

Each year Food & Wine magazine asks the public to vote among a slate of nominees for the title of

People's Best New Chef

. The award "spotlights innovators who have run their own kitchens for five years or fewer," the magazine explains in a release today. (The popular vote is an adjunct to the magazine's own Best New Chef awards, which will be announced later.)

The People's Best New Chef nominees are broken down by 10 geographic regions. The chef with the most online votes in each region advances to the finals; the finalist with the most overall votes is crowned The People’s Best New Chef.

Five Nashville chefs are in the running in the Southeast region: the duo of Jessica Benefield and Trey Burnette of Two Ten Jack; Matt Bolus of The 404 Kitchen; Philip Krajeck of Rolf and Daughters; and Trevor Moran of The Catbird Seat.

Want to chime in on your favorite of that august bunch? Online voting started today and runs through 4 p.m. CDT Wednesday, April 8.

On April 9, The People's Best New Chef finalists and winner will be announced online at foodandwine.com; the magazine says the winner will also be featured in the July 2015 issue of Food & Wine, which is the same issue that profiles the magazine's Best New Chefs.
