As of Monday, the restaurant in the ground floor of the Retired Teachers Apartment Building is an outpost of the Elliston Place Soda Shop. Charles Galbraith, who owns the 70-year-old landmark meat-and-three at the eastern edge of the Rock Block, has purchased the Green Hills Cafeteria from owner Barry Bryant.
The menu at Elliston Place Green Hills will mirror that of the original soda fountain, with a roster of "good old Southern cooking" and a list of desserts made in house. The interior will remain the same as under previous ownership. Located at 2209 Abbott Martin Road, Elliston Place Green Hills is open 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
