Author's note: YEAH's programs are near and dear to my heart. I volunteered with the Southern Girls' Rock 'n' Roll Camp all through my student days, and seeing the confidence and sheer joy on the kids' faces at the showcase concert is one of the most fulfilling experiences I've ever had.

Over 3,500 kids have participated in the all-girls' Southern Girls Rock 'n' Roll Camp in Murfreesboro, the coed Tennessee Teens Rock Camp (Murfreesboro and Nashville), the after-school Rock Block program and the satellite New York City Rock Camp. As you can imagine, that takes a lot of capital. As gear guru emeritus, I can tell you that just keeping 10-12 practice rooms fully outfitted with amps, a drum kit and a P.A. is a full-time job, let alone keeping the office running, making sure volunteers have snacks and a supply of precious caffeine and bringing badass speakers like TECHNE to camp. That's in addition to offering scholarships that help make sure kids in need get to rock out, too.

YEAH needs $5,000 towards their operating budget. Give what you can because it's a great thing to do, but if that's at least $100, you can score some vintage Rock Camp swag in the bargain. When you contribute, don't forget to spread the word by posting with the hashtag #WhyIHelpedRockCamp.
