What'd You Eat This Weekend? Biscuits Au Jus, a Rainbow Snowcone and the Best Coffee Soda in the World

Andrea's campire cinnamon twirler.

Andrea Zelinski: "What's more magical than camping? Discovering incredible food to eat while you're out there. My favorite from this weekend's camping trip was cinnamon twirlers: doughy cinnamon rolls (from the tube you buy in the refrigerated section of the grocery store) wrapped around a stick and cooked over an open flame or hot coals. Watch them puff up! And when they're done, slather them in frosting (also from the package). They taste just as amazing as they sound, especially after crouching over a fire for about 8-10 minutes to cook them."

Steve Cavendish: "It was an Old School Nashville Saturday Night for us as we grabbed dinner at Sportsman’s Grille, still one of my favorite places. We sat at the bar, watched a little hockey and had a beer with some steak and biscuits. As a bonus, since it was prime rib night, the bartender brought us a little au jus portion to dip the biscuits in. SO DELICIOUS. We had to laugh because it's prom season, and there were three tables full of prom-goers eating before the big night. Smart move on somebody’s part — they ate well and didn’t have to blow all of their allowance."

Perch Soda. My new favorite coffee friend.

Megan Seling: "After having to run a couple errands in Green Hills (ugh, so much traffic) I needed a very serious caffeine-boost, so we stopped by

The Perch

, the little coffeehouse in the strip next to Which Wich. It's a nice, cozy space, and it looks like they might have some tasty food options (shrimp and grits, a variety of scrambles and crepes and baked goods). I got The Perch Soda, which is a fruity, potent mixture of espresso, Mexican Coke, raspberry syrup and fresh lime. It was SO GOOD. And it gave me extra energy to scream at the TV while the Preds floundered in the second period, as they do."

Stephen Trageser: "I cruised over to Third Man on Record Store Day, just in time to see PUJOL play the tent out front. Having walked there from Grimey’s, a snowcone sounded like the perfect treat, so I decided to try a rainbow cone from the RetroSno truck. I was not disappointed. It was light and fluffy with a subtle vanilla flavor that I wasn’t expecting, and it went great with the show."
