The Cowabunga Report: The Ninja Turtles Pizza Van Is in Nashville, Giving Out Pizza and Collecting Toys

Did you see the latest summer-blockbuster incarnation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Of course probably not, as you are an adult. I, as a member of what fellow Scenester Dana Kopp Franklin just referred to as "the Ninja Turtles Generation," like to think of this particular TMNT as Michael Bay's version of Chinese Democracy: long, complicated, expensive to produce and

ultimately disappointing

.

Anyway, I'm off track. Here's the news: There is a Ninja Turtles Pizza Van (pictured over there on the right), and it is currently in Nashville, giving out free pizza and collecting toys for the local Boys and Girls Club. According to the van's site, it is currently hitting Second Avenue and Broadway as well as the Arcade (until 2:30 p.m.), and it will head to Walk of Fame Park near the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum after that (from 3 to 5:30 p.m.) — the behemoth was initially scheduled to be at The Mall at Green Hills, but the plan changed. From a release:

Be on the lookout for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizza Van, which will be distributing FREE pizza and also collecting new, unwrapped toys for the local Boys & Girls Club. Grab a slice and customize it with wacky, Turtle-inspired toppings and have a chance to score a Turtle eye mask and other fun prizes! The 10-city tour celebrates the home entertainment debut of the blockbuster film.

The release then plugs the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles DVD and Blu-ray. But hey,

Boys and Girls Club

? Good cause. "Turtle-inspired toppings"? Potentially gross but definitely intriguing. "Turtle eye mask"? Completely rad and probably nearly as cool as the one my mom sewed for me when I was 3.
