Last month, I shared the news that the annual Tennessee Volksfest German beer festival had plans to move to the Green at Riverfront Park for the fourth edition of the weekend of food, fun and beer. Well, scratch that. Due to circumstances beyond the organizers' control, they have had to make another move before the festival even kicks off on Labor Day weekend.
Instead of between the bridges downtown, Tennessee Volksfest will now take place at East Park at 700 Woodland St. There will still be plenty of German beer, food and music, and activities for the kids and tents and televisions for adults seeking spots to enjoy their food and beer while they watch a ball game. The Musik Meisters return to provide the polka music for the fourth consecutive year, and they are not to be missed.
As a bonus for moving, the festival has been extended a day, so now it will run Sept. 3-5 with gates opening at 11 a.m. every day. Remember admission is free with food and drink tokens available for purchase in advance or at the event.
Pets and kids are all welcome, but plan to bring bags to clean up after your pooch. (What you do with your child is up to you.)
