Italian restaurant Sardinia, the Nashville outpost of a Miami-based venture, will close for good on Wednesday.
Bites received the following statement from the restaurant today:
After a year in the Nashville community, Sardinia Ristorante has decided to close its West End location effective Wednesday, Jan. 15. The original Sardinia Ristorante location in Miami has been a more successful venture, and the owners plan to give their full attention to its continued success.
Located on 25th Avenue North across from Centennial Park, it was open for only a year.
In May, Carrington Fox gave the pizza-free menu a largely positive review.
Octopus carpaccio arrived with tissue-thin rounds of shaved mollusk fanned around a platter like so much purple-tinged marbleized paper. Topped with a tangle of lightly dressed arugula, cherry tomatoes and plump tangy olives, the dish looked vibrant and exciting, though to be honest, the pulpo shone more for its elegance and novelty than for its mild — almost absent — flavor. Quail wrapped in guanciale and stuffed with rosemary was a beautiful presentation of plump, bronzed bird splayed on a bed of sautéed broccoli rabe. Unfortunately, in the process of sharing, we divided the herbal bouquet unevenly. Some diners got an overwhelming dose of rosemary, while others tasted unadorned meat. Even so, the generous portion of the $14 appetizer would make for an ample and affordable meal, compared to the entrées, which range from $26 to $43.
