Murff's current draft beer selections
Good news for beer lovers in Brentwood:
Murff’s Craft Brews and Burgersis now open. Owned and operated by the same folks responsible for The Corner Pub in Bellevue and Brentwood, Murff’s was created to honor the owner’s father, a place for a good burger and a beer. The restaurant is located just off Franklin Road on Harpeth Drive in the former Phillips Deli location adjacent to Maryland Farms. There’s a lot of room inside, a bar and a patio out front. Murff’s plans to eventually pave the side lot and have a year-round patio on the west side of the building as well.
Each burger (choose from steak, chicken or turkey) is freshly made, and the menu also includes appetizers, salads, sliders, sandwiches and wraps, platters, a long list of sides (which can also be ordered a la carte) and a kids’ menu. I asked about vegetarian options and was told they could easily make a guacamole wrap, but a selection from the sides menu would also make a nice platter. They did say they were thinking about making a black bean burger to add to the menu in the future. Though, admittedly, they say their motto is “Live better, not longer.” Indeed, their joie de vivre is evident in menu descriptions (shh … don’t tell them that their fried fungi are vegan).
Now, for the important part: the beer.
Murff's current bottle selections
Their emphasis is on local draft beers (“local” extending to regional brews within Tennessee and to some neighboring states, thankfully) with more than 20 on tap and another great selection of craft brews and ciders in bottles. They also carry the popular domestics for folks who like to keep it simple.
Craft drafts include beers brewed just for Murff’s as well as Yazoo, Little Harpeth, Black Abbey, and the other area breweries. I put in a request to see some Memphis beers (other than Ghost River) on tap, so I’m hoping to see Wiseacre, Memphis Made, and/or High Cotton as they expand their list. Check out the photos for more details on the beer.
The restaurant opened quietly Friday night and is already generating some buzz because dinner options in the neighborhood — particularly with beer and service past 9 p.m. — are fairly limited. The restaurant is open daily from 11 a.m. until midnight. Check their website, Facebook page, and Twitter (shared with the Murff's Mix seasoning blend) for more information.
