I've just discovered the food groups on meetup.com, and besides the Bites crowd, they seem like the funnest-ever groups of funsters. Having engaging company makes it even more fun to follow your passion.
I want to meet with the "What the Pho" group, which had a meet-up for bubble tea this past weekend. How good does that sound? The Nashville Cooks! group is gathering Tuesday night, but all the spaces are already full. I wonder what they're cooking.
Nashville Sushi Meetup Group has nearly 300 people; 39 of them showed up at Fujiyama for last June's outing. Sounds fun, but pity the sushi chef! Another dining group, the Nashville Dining Out group, took in a dockside dinner at Blue Moon a few months back, and another time visited the terrific Los Rosales.
One of the longest-lived groups, The Nashville Vegetarians Group, has been meeting since 2003, for a total of 54 meetups, often potlucks. That sounds like a great way to learn new dishes and tricks to make meatless cooking easier.
My brew-loving husband, Big Fella, is making eyes at the Nashville Beer Society. And for a surefire barrel of monkeys, what can match the Raw Foods Meetup Group?
Anyone here in one of these groups? They sound like the best thing since sliced bread—are we missing out if we don't join?
