Off the Bone BBQ, is is about to add its own bricks-and-mortar restaurant. I'm not sure if this is related to the development that Off the Bone has started to serve their own iteration of fiery fowl, but Helen's has a grand opening planned for this Saturday, Oct. 25, at their new location in Otey Plaza at 1801 Jefferson St. near Fisk.
To celebrate the new hot spot, Helen's will be offering a free leg quarter with purchase this Saturday, after the grand opening begins with an official blessing by Pastor Breonus Mitchell.
Helen's Hot Chicken has earned a dedicated following in a short time, partially due to their easily accessible location, but also thanks to some skillfully fried chicken, especially considering they are working out of a trailer. They plan to keep both locations open even as they grow the new restaurant.
Now that they have access to a full kitchen, here's hoping that Helen's will continue to put out some fine poultry. Offering leg and breast quarters, wings and tenders, Helen's has something for everyone, and they promise, "It's hella hot and hella good!"
