One of the most difficult things about being a food blogger is trying to take photos in a dimly lit restaurant that will give readers some idea of how fantastic a dish looks and tastes. Compound this with the fact that most times, I'm armed only with my generations-old iPhone, and I will readily admit that there are some local bloggers who are much better at it than I am.
Like here, here, here and here. But that doesn't mean I don't keep trying.
For my birthday dinner recently at Miel, I threw myself on the mercy of the chef and asked Chef Deb Paquette what she recommended from the bistro menu. She said the risotto made with a mushrooms, spinach and scallops was pretty good so I took her advice. Pretty good? She sold herself way short.
