What is it with the third week of April — every year, this particular week is crammed with events, food and otherwise.

There's the Sunday, April 18, reception and signing for a show of art by Paul Harmon, Paul Harmon y'all, curated by Zeitgeist at Sunset Grill, 4 to 6 p.m. The art's for sale, too, at least some of it.

There's the grand opening ribbon cutting at Tokyo Sushi and Hibachi Grill Steak House in Green Hills (on Crestmoor) at 11 a.m. April 23.

There's Iron Fork on Wednesday, April 21, at the Country Music Hall of Fame, featuring tayst chef-owner Jeremy Barlow defending his title against a strong roster of Chris Cunningham (Sunset Grill), Hal M. Holden-Bache (Eastland Cafe), Andy Hunter (Acorn) and Jason McConnell (Red Pony, Sol, 55 South). It'll be a banquetorium of epicurean delights, so buy tickets now and definitely skip lunch that day. (See the ad on this page and follow the link for tickets. Or buy at Whole Foods in Green Hills or Cool Springs, or Le Creuset in Green Hills.)

The Herb Society of Nashville herb sale Saturday, April 17 (see below), the crawfish boil (see below), Nashville Cares Dining Out For Life, Potlikker, and all the spring goodies at Farmer's Market, not to mention peripheral food events like the cake walk at the JT Moore Middle School carnival (April 24, incredible cakes), and dozens of non-food events like the Country Music Marathon and Earth Day.

April really is the cruelest month. What's the best way to choose what event to attend? And what are you eating this week? Bites' Open Thread is your place for comment, corrections and news.
