Nashville CARES Dining Out for Life Coming April 27

Posted By on Thu, Apr 8, 2010 at 10:50 AM

Nashville diners and restaurateurs are coming together later this month to help out Nashville CARES, a nonprofit organization that provides education on prevention of HIV and comprehensive support services to men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS in Davidson County and sixteen surrounding counties. On that day, participating restaurants donate a generous portion of sales to CARES, and they're asking for your help.

The easiest way to help out is to get together some dining partners and make reservations to eat out at some of your favorite restaurants. Diners may also contribute individually if they choose, and everyone has a chance to enter a drawing with a grand prize of two Southwest Airlines tickets. A current list of participants with details as to whether they are serving breakfast, lunch and/or dinner and their percentage of contribution is available at the the Dining Out for Life website. Special kudos to Suzy Wong's House of Yum for contributing 100 percent of their proceeds that day to CARES.

If you really want to get involved, you can also serve as a restaurant host for the evening. Don't worry, you don't have to pay for all your friends' meals. All you have to do is open up your Rolodex (does anybody still have one of those?) and invite your friends to join you at a particular restaurant. Also you should keep communications flowing so restaurant management can plan and deliver great service on a night of eating well for a good cause.

If you're interested in volunteering, email Jasmine at Nashville CARES today or phone her at 259-4866, ext. 314. Last time I checked, they still needed sociable folks to host tables at such great places as F. Scott's Restaurant and Jazz Bar, Sole Mio, and Watermark (all donating 50 percent); Acorn, the 1808 Grille, and Eat, the Restaurant at Loew's Vanderbilt, Cabana, Midtown, Sunset Grill and others.

You know you like to eat. Why not help out a good cause while you do it?
