Chef Dale Levitski and Sinema Co-Owners Plan New Restaurant in Melrose — UPDATE

Ed Reed

UPDATE: Ed Reed, one of the co-owners of Sinema, says he and his family are working to open a new restaurant on Eighth Avenue in the Melrose neighborhood, with chef Dale Levitski at the helm.

Construction is underway on the site 2222 Eighth Ave. S. That's about half a mile from Sinema, Chef Levitski's sleek restaurant and bar in the former Melrose theater complex. It's co-owned by a team that includes Levitski, Reed, Reed's parents Colin Reed (of Ryman Hospitality Properties) and Brenda Reed, and brother Sam.

(Sinema opened last summer and was an immediate hit.)

Initial reports in Bites' sister pub, Nashville Post, indicated that the chef for the new restaurant was not yet confirmed, but a representative for Sinema said this afternoon that Levitski will be involved in the new project.

Ed Reed declined to give any other details on the new restaurant, including the name, the cuisine or the opening date.

Another prominent Sinema co-owner, restaurateur Austin Ray of M.L. Rose, was not named by Reed as being involved in the new project.

Reed said: "The Reed family and partners are big believers in Nashville and particularly in the Melrose/Eighth Avenue district”; he also promised more details soon.

Spiva/Hill Management and Investment owns the 2222 site, the Post reports, having acquired it in August 2000 for $250,000. The company is also working on a residential development within a block of the restaurant site.
