in Belle Meade wants us all to stop by the store today to experience something called the Mobile Culinary Institute, a fancy and fully equipped semi-truck showcasing something called the
Turbo Chefoven. "The fastest oven on the planet," as the store describes it, cooks a frozen pizza in less than three minutes and a 12-pound turkey cooks in 42 minutes.
The demonstration will showcase the consumer version of the speed oven; food will be prepared lickety-split and offered up as samples to see and taste. In addition to cooking 10 to 15 times faster than a regular oven, Turbo Chef claims to look good, too, with "a design and style that makes in the centerpiece of the kitchen."
The mobile unit will operate today until 3 p.m. in front of A-1 Appliances store at 5410 Harding Road. I personally haven't heard of this gadget (so far I'm getting by with my '70s-era electric range). Anybody have any experience with this allegedly world-changing appliance?
