Dobladas Chicharrón con Papa — Antigua Cocina Guatemalteca — $2.99

Tucked in a strip mall behind an Olive Garden in Antioch, Antigua Cocina Guatemalteca is worth the drive. If you live nearby, you really have no excuse not to go. It’s one of very few Guatemalan restaurants in town, and it is tasty as hell. The menu is substantial: You can easily order three things a la carta and not be able to finish a single one because you’re stuffed, and you’ll still only spend $11. But if you’re going to spend just $3, put it toward the dobladas. Imagine a cross between a Doritos Locos Taco and a pupusa, except filled with pork rinds and potatoes and topped with cabbage and salsa and crumbled queso fresco, and you’re close. (You can get it stuffed with chicken or beef instead, but why would you?) And yes, that one dish really can be lunch on its own. It’s that filling — but it’s so delicious, you just might want to order two.
