Five Points Tacos — Cheesy Bean-and-Rice Burrito — $5
Two summers back, Dickerson Pike outpost Taqueria Andrea made one of the Scene’s very first Cheap Eats installments, thanks to its savory and insanely filling chicken torta. Now we check in with Five Points Tacos, the restaurant’s semi-mobile sister establishment. Run by the Taqueria Andrea owner’s son Charlie, Five Points Tacos is a food truck that doesn’t really go anywhere, instead posting up in the parking lot of the Marathon station at the corner of Woodland and 11th in East Nashville.
Five Points’ menu is pretty similar to Andrea’s, meaning there are plenty of options when it comes to tacos and other delicious, authentic Mexican fare. But one item on the menu is purely Charlie’s creation, a bite that’s as quick and wallet-friendly as it is satisfying: the cheesy bean-and-rice burrito. It’s a bit brilliant of Charlie to play off of Taco Bell’s identically named offering, considering how many intoxicated late-night stumblers come ambling through Five Points with visions of fast food dancing through their noggins. But no need to take a Lyft two miles up the way to the nearest T-Bell when you have a significantly tastier option right in the middle of what I like to call the Bar Hole. Five Points Tacos is a godsend, and this burrito is doing the Lord’s work.
