It's cornbread time in Tennessee again as Martha White and Lodge Manufacturing conspire to find the best marriage of cornmeal and a cast-iron skillet. In April, the National Cornbread Festival cook-off will showcase 10 innovative recipes that use at least one pack of Martha White cornbread mix and a piece of cookware from South Pittsburg, TN-based Lodge. The winner will receive $5,000 as well as a 30-inch stainless steel gas range, courtesy of Five Star Professional Cooking Equipment. The contest will accept entries until Feb. 28.
You can enter online, email a recipe and contact info to cornbread@dvl.com or send your entry on an 8.5-by-11 sheet of paper to National Cornbread Cook-Off 2009, 209 Seventh Ave. N., Nashville, TN 37219.
