Guess who's back? Woodlands is back!
Months ago the beloved vegetarian Indian restaurant had to close its popular location on West End while the building it was housed in underwent a remodel. Though Woodlands' website maintained the shut down was temporary, last month the Scene was told Woodlands was gone for good.
No more paper masala dosas! No more thalis! No more cheese naan that was better than any other cheese naan in the city!
The blow was softened when a Woodlands veteran opened Mysore Palace Indian Vegetarian Cuisine in Cool Springs (read about our First Bite at Mysore here) — it's not quite the same, but what's an extra 25 minute drive for a taste of their perfect tikka masala, right? Surely we'd all heal ... eventually.
But just weeks after the Scene was told Woodlands is dead, Woodlands lives again! Just this morning the big green sign — Woodlands Indian Vegetarian Cuisine — was sitting out on the sidewalk waiting to be hung. An employee at the restaurant confirmed the restaurant will be reopening "within a week" and he says it will be the same chef, cuisine and staff as before, and they will have an all-new kitchen and remodeled dining room.Â
Just try to get there before me. I'm gonna eat all the paneer in the house.Â
