Two Nashville Hospitality Professionals Make Zagat’s '30 Under 30' Long List

Allie Poindexter (right) and Julia Sullivan of Henrietta Red

First of all, in full disclosure, one of my side hustles is as the Nashville local editor for Zagat, a division of Google that is best known for their iconic restaurant guides compiled from user-generated reviews. But I had nothing to do with the selection of two Nashville food and bev professionals on Zagat’s “30 under 30” list of excellence.

However, I am wholly supportive of the choice of Kaelin Ulrich Trilling, the executive chef at Bajo Sexto Taco, Bajo Sexto Taco Lounge and Bajo Sexto Food Truck as well as Allie Poindexter, the co-owner/GM/sommelier of Henrietta Red, the newest Germantown hot spot where she operates a cool seafood emporium with Julia Sullivan. Ulrich and Poindexter join 58 other young hospitality luminaries from all across the country on the long list that will be winnowed down to 45 in June and finally 30 for a big September announcement.

Considering that I regularly cook in skillets that are older than these talented young whippersnappers, I have great respect for anyone who has achieved so much at such a young age. I hope you’ll join me in congratulating them both and rooting them on as they progress through the selection process!
