The Bloomy Rind Announces Changes to Retail Location

Kathleen Cotter, proprietor/cheesemonger at The Bloomy Rind, announced late last month that changes were coming to the shop's retail counter, located inside Porter Road Butcher. The cheese shop has occupied a portion of space inside the Gallatin Avenue store for five years, manned by Cotter four days a week. Over time, it became clear that customers wanted to buy cheese every day that the butcher was open. At the same time, The Bloomy Rind's wholesale cheese business serving restaurants was growing as well.

So as of this month, the cheese counter will now be managed by the folks at Porter Road Butcher, but will still carry a selection of cheeses offered by The Bloomy Rind. In other words, the only changes customers should notice are the faces behind the cheese counter — and that cheese will be available for sale every day. Meanwhile, Cotter will be focusing her time on the wholesale business, which mostly entails curating the cheese plates for a number of Nashville-area restaurants. She also hopes to have more time to do special events, including bringing back the Southern Artisan Cheese Festival.

Currently, you can find The Bloomy Rind cheese plates at Josephine, 5th & Taylor, The 404 Kitchen, Miel, Bar Luca, Lockeland Table, Nicky's Coal Fired, Salt & Vine, Eastland Cafe and Silo.

Porter Road Butcher’s cheese counter (as well as the rest of the business) is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The address is 501 Gallatin Ave. in East Nashville.
