Taco Mamacita

Taco Mamacita in Germantown closed Sunday after a four-year run.

The Mexican cuisine restaurant, known for its distinctive tacos, is slated to cease operations after Sunday, June 28, according to the business's website.

Monen Family Restaurant Group (MFRG) owned and operated the Taco Mamacita, which opened in summer 2022 in a building perviously housing Little’s Fish Market. MFRG paid $1.9 million for the 1940s-era building, with an address of 1234 Sixth Ave. N., in March 2021.

Based in Chattanooga, MFRG is owned and operated by wife and husband Taylor Monen and Michael Monen. MFRG also owns Milk & Honey in The Gulch and had owned HiFi Clyde’s, which closed in Midtown in 2025. The Monens could not be reached for comment.

The Germantown Taco Mamacita location replaced Edgehill Village's Taco Mamacita restaurant, which closed in early 2021.

The Germantown Taco Mamacita was known for its Sloppy Jose and Korean BBQ tacos, with a vibe highlighted by Latin and surf music.
