Star Rover Sound's breakfast tacos

Star Rover Sound's breakfast tacos

I’m not usually a big bruncher, but lately, by the time Sunday rolls around, I’m not looking to be cooking. Thanks to two new Sunday offerings from Star Rover Sound and Adele’s, it’s easier than ever to take the day off from working in the kitchen.

The first addition to the current multitude of brunch options comes courtesy of Star Rover Sound, already one of my favorite vibes on this side of the river. I’ve waxed rhapsodic about how much I love their West Texas steak night experience, and now they’ve brought the morning meal to Germantown every Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Standout menu items include cast iron cinnamon rolls, a stack of griddled hotcakes from a recipe shared by their corporate cousins at Superica, an SRS brunch burger topped with bacon, a fried egg, lettuce, onion, pickles, mustard and American cheese, breakfast tacos and chicken-fried chicken. A “rancher’s breakfast” makes me want to embrace my inner Taylor Sheridan so I can enjoy two eggs any way, fried pork belly, SR hashbrowns, jalapeño sausage, refried beans and a pancake. (And a nap.)

And of course the bar will be open, so try a Mimosa Wallbanger. Make reservations to hold your spot at the table

Adele's gnocchi

In The Gulch, Adele’s has already had a successful brunch business for years, but now they’ve added a new Sunday Supper to their regular dinner service. If you’ve got a group of two or more diners and you just can’t make another decision after a week of peopling, Adele’s wants to take the wheel for you.

Everyone at the table must participate in the special supper because it’s a family-style experience, but for just $60, it’s a pretty impressive menu. Here's what they share:

Wine for the table

choice of house wine | red, white or nonalcoholic

To begin

cornbread | chipotle honey, whipped butter

kale salad | pecorino, lemon, anchovy dressing, breadcrumb

Mains

roasted chicken | salsa verde

gnocchi | sugar snap pea, mint pistou, lemon yogurt

market fish | coconut rice, pineapple, cilantro, green goddess

Etc

crispy potatoes | rosemary, pecorino

To finish

chef’s choice dessert

The menu is available from 5 until 9 p.m. on Sundays, so make reservations at Adele’s website.
