Five Points restaurant The Treehouse has been sold to POP Hospitality Group owner and 25-year Nashville resident Kelly Black in a three-parcel transaction for an undisclosed amount.
The three prominent sites, with addresses 1007, 1009 and 1011 Clearview Ave., were listed for sale for $1.9 million in August.
The Spicher family acquired the 1009 and 1011 parcels in 1988 for $25,000 and $22,000, respectively, according to Metro records. In 2007, David Spicher, Matt Spicher and Pam Spicher Tillis bought the 1007 parcel for $175,000. Matt Spicher, along with Corey Ladd, opened the restaurant in 2013.
“The Clearview properties have been in our family for decades, and now it is time for my parents to enjoy their golden years,” Treehouse owner Matt Spicher said in a press release.
The restaurant will stay operational under the direction of Black, with plans to refresh the menu and add late-night service.
Black adds The Treehouse to his personal portfolio of notable restaurants in Middle Tennessee, including NashHouse Southern Spoon and Saloon at Cambria, The Row Kitchen & Pub, The Honeysuckle in Franklin and Pie in the Sky Pizza.
Of note, the Spichers were previously exploring demolition of the properties, but the Metro Historic Zoning Commission unanimously denied the request to raze. Tim Walker, Metro Historical Commission executive director, told the Nashville Post the three buildings "all contribute to the historic character of the Five Points district." The three homes likely were constructed prior to World War II, according to MHZC records.
