Suzanne Loving, owner or The Loving Pie Company, has announced the Berry Hill shop is closing its doors. The last day will be Friday, Dec. 22.
Loving says via press release to the Scene:
“While in culinary school, I envisioned a place where you could grab a slice of pie and a cup of coffee. Not just any pie, though. Pies that were creative, fresh, delicious, and made people smile. I wanted a whimsical place that was comfortable and inviting, that matched the Berry Hill area. I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished with what we have had: one fridge, one freezer, one oven and literally tens of thousands of pies! Now it’s time for a new adventure. I don’t think The Loving Pie Company is over, we’re just putting a pin in it, so to speak, to get ready for the next chapter."
The Loving Pie Company opened in 2012 and they have regularly shown up in the pages of the Scene for their innovative and fun takes on pie. This year, for example, they were given the
Best Use of Pop Culture to Sell Pieaward in the writers' choice category of our Best of Nashville issue and I wrote about
their awesome Pie Shake!, one of the best milkshakes in Nashville (made with a whole slice of pie!).Â
Also, they have a pie called Pie Hard, inspired by Die Hard, and if that's not worth some kind of lifetime achievement award, I don't know what is. (Die Hard is the best movie ever made. If you disagree you are wrong.)
The shop isn't going away without a party, though. Loving says:
We would love nothing more than to celebrate our last Christmas season with you. We are currently taking holiday orders and will continue to do so through Saturday December 16th. Lots of fan favorites will be available in the next couple of weeks. Please come by and celebrate with us, share memories, pull up a chair and have a slice of pie. December 19th is going to be Customer Appreciation Day, full of discounts and giveaways.
I will be there on Dec. 19. I hope you will, too.
