Nicky’s and 312 Pizza Celebrate Chicago Roots

In a town blessed with a lot of excellent pizza options, Nashville is indeed lucky to have several pizzerias that represent legit Chicago culture. And now that both the Cubs and the White Sox have made the MLB playoffs in the same season for only the fourth time in 120 years, Nicky’s Coal Fired and 312 Pizza Co. invite you to come show a little Chicago pride in their “Crosstown Classic” promotion.

Tony and Caroline Galzin are Sox fans, so Nicky’s will be offering “Da Pope” Pie because the pontiff shares their fandom. That special pizza will feature Parmesan bechamel, bacon, mozzarella, pecorino and egg yolk.

The fine folks at 312 are North Side fans, so they back the Cubbies. Their promo pie is the Chicago Dog Pizza, which would be right at home at Wrigley Field. It’s made with your choice of a traditional hot dog or vegan hot dog, onions, tomatoes, sport peppers and pickles.

Both restaurants will show as many playoff games as possible on their televisions — although the first two Cubs games are in San Diego, so they won’t air until after the restaurants are closed for the evening. White Sox and Cubs fans are encouraged to use the restaurants as their home bases for watching games, but if you show your receipt from the other location, you’ll get 10 percent off your purchase.

That’s some crosstown cooperation, right there!

The promotion will last as long as the Chicago sides are still in contention for the title, so hopefully they’ll have a nice, long run.
