Kingdom Cafe & Grill, a soul-food restaurant at 2610 Jefferson St., was founded by the Rev. Howard Jones, a retired pastor and Metro principal with a strong interest in creating a more just society within Nashville. The restaurant has partnered with the Metro Human Relations Commission office to present an evening of conversation over a community meal on Thursday, June 5, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
With a goal of creating stronger connections across the community, Kingdom Cafe will be serving up great Southern cooking in a safe space to discuss issues of bias and discrimination. The meal is free, but the Kingdom Cafe team would like attendees to register in advance since the dinner will probably sell out. Let them know you’re coming by making a reservation at the event website.

Chef Michael Hanna has spent years perfecting his Sicilian-style sfincione pizza at his Gulch restaurant, St. Vito. Luckily, he’s ecumenical about pizza, and he has invited Tommy Brockert to town to introduce the Los Angeles-style pies that have earned his restaurant LaSorted’s Pizza acclaim from local media outlets and favorite status among loyal diners.
For one night only — Sunday, June 8 — Hanna and Brockert will both be rocking the kitchen at St. Vito from 5 until 10 p.m. It’s a first-come situation with no reservations accepted, so drive early or be prepared to wait. Diners can choose between Hanna’s recipes or Brockert’s favorite pizzas served on the thin-crust/sourdough hybrid round pies that have made Brockert famous. Or heck, try both! Here’s what they’ll be offering:

Finally, Amerigo is celebrating its silver anniversary of 25 years of operation in Cool Springs with a month of special menu items and events. Twenty-five years is a very long time for a restaurant, but when the location is one of seven in three states, it’s even more noteworthy.
So why not celebrate achievement by rolling out a special menu of some of the favorite dishes of the past quarter-century? For the entire month of June, Amerigo is offering three selected wines for $25 per bottle along with some of the favorite libations from the Cool Springs bartenders. For the first half of the month, they’re featuring a Tiramisu Martini, Tequila Citrus Twist and a Blueberry Lemon Drop with a new batch of specials dropping the second half of June.
On the food menu, chef Steven Robilio is resurrecting Williamson County favorites including starters like Tomato & Mozzarella Basilico and the Artichokes and Pollo Salad, along with entrees such as Straw & Hay, Chicken Vesuvio, Portobello Filet and more.
Robilio has also planned a three-night series of 25th Anniversary Chef Dinners June 22 through 24, serving dishes selected by attendees at previous chef dinners. The chef explains: “This milestone series of chef dinners is special for so many reasons, and we wanted to put the menu in the hands of those who have attended these dinners and supported Amerigo for the last 25 years. We look forward to reconnecting with generations of guests and celebrating our silver anniversary.”Â
The first two dinners have already sold out, but at the time of posting, tickets were still available for the June 24 event. Check out the menu and grab those last coveted seats at the anniversary dinner page.
