ManBQue Returns to Fat Bottom Brewery
ManBQue Returns to Fat Bottom Brewery

A few years back, suburban grill gods John Carruthers and Jesse Valenciana came to Nashville as part of their promotional tour for their book ManBQue, and they made a stop at the original location of Fat Bottom Brewing. In the intervening time since 2014, ManBQue has continued to spread its empire of meat, beer and rock n’ roll, and fat Bottom has pulled up stakes and moved into a modern new facility in West Nashville.

So for Carruthers and Valenciana’s latest visit to Nashville, they’re teaming up with Fat Bottom again, in the brewery's new location at 800 44th Ave. N. for another day of fun. This Sunday, July 23, from 1 to 4 p.m., they’ll be throwing an epic patio barbecue party, with ManBQue providing the barbecue, Fat Bottom serving up the craft beer and a DJ from Acme Radio Live spinning the tunes as part of a remote broadcast.

ManBQue is based out of Chicago and describes itself as a “grilling and lifestyle organization for outdoor cooks, music lovers, craft beer obsessives and all manner of modern urban Viking." It adds: "Once a month, in cities across the country, our chapters meet in backyards, back alleys, rooftops, beaches and anywhere else with room for a grill, a cooler and speakers at maximum volume.” They call these events “MEATings.” Of course they do.

You can pay for your food and beer at the event, but the organizers ask that you do RSVP in advance so they can have an idea of how big the crowd will be. And best of all, attendees who are kind enough to make a reservation at the event website in advance will be entered into drawings for some cool free Fat Bottom swag. Man up!
