Halls Catch lunch menu

Halls Catch lunch menu

We’re about halfway through Lent, and if you are eschewing meat on Fridays but don’t want to live by Gorton’s fish sticks alone, I promise you can do better.

The first new option is from a restaurant that definitely knows its way around a fish — Halls Catch. The Midtown upper-crust seafood restaurant has recently launched a new midday menu (see above), which is great if you’re looking for an elevated dining opportunity that also keeps Pope Leo happy.

The deal is available Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and is offered as a prix-fixe service with your choice of an entrée, one nonalcoholic beverage and either soup, salad or fries for $18. Not all the items are seafood, so carnivores and vegetarians (corn-ivores?) will also have items to pick from. You can even make reservations if you want to ensure your choice of dining room or patio seating.

Another new pescatarian opportunity I’ve discovered is the “Bounty of the Seven Seas” splurge menu at STK, which should have renamed itself FSH for the Lenten season. (I swear one day I’ll collect for all this free marketing advice I’ve given over the years.)

Available all day, every day through Easter Sunday, April 5, this special seafood-based menu is far from a sacrifice, with choices like Caviar Kisses (Keluga caviar and crème fraîche on blinis) or king crab fondue as appetizers. Main dish choices include a huge lobster tail, swordfish, salmon or branzino plates and a poached lobster-fried rice. STK is even offering a nautical cocktail called a Mermaid’s Brew that reads a lot like a tequila colada. I’m not hating on that choice, but maybe not for lunch.

It’s nice to have some more new options, but don’t forget about the other reliable seafood-centric choices in town, including Henrietta Red, The Optimist, Marsh House, Eddie V’s, The Southern Steak & Oyster and Boston Commons. Easter is coming, and the finish line is in sight!
